For the fifth consecutive year, Killeen Independent School District has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation — continuing a national streak that highlights both the strength of its music programs and the community support behind them.
More than 4,800 KISD students participate in band, choir and orchestra programs across the district, with all elementary students receiving specialized instruction. Demonstrating the reach and impact of music education in Killeen schools.
“This honor reflects our community's commitment to music education and the outstanding work of our teachers and students.” said Morganne Davis, Director of Fine Arts in KISD. “We remain dedicated to being a destination district that offers exceptional musical experiences.”
The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate excellence in funding, instructional time, student participation, facilities and community support. Applications are reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a national arts education research and evaluation firm.
Earning the honor for a fifth straight year reflects more than program strength. It underscores a districtwide commitment to ensuring students have access to opportunities that support creativity, discipline and connection as part of a well-rounded education.
Now in its 27th year, the NAMM Foundation program recognizes districts nationwide for outstanding achievement in music education and for expanding equitable access to the arts.
